The private guided tour of the Egyptian Museum is one of the most interesting tours in Cairo. The museum stands in Tahrir Square in downtown Cairo, and its 100 rooms hold more than 150,000 relics and artefacts covering 5,000 years of history. Your Egyptologist guide will lead you through the highlights, from the colossal statue of Amenhotep III and Queen Tiye to the masterpieces of the Old Kingdom.
Tutankhamun’s golden mask and treasures have now moved to the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, so many guests combine both museums.

Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the museum. With more than one hundred rooms and many rare exhibits, it would take days to see everything, so your guide will focus on the highlights. First, the colossal statue of Amenhotep III and his wife Tiye greets you, followed by the halls dedicated to the early dynastic period and the Old Kingdom.
The oldest exhibits are about five thousand years old. The museum holds ancient papyri, statues, jewellery, objects of daily life and sacred relics. Note that Tutankhamun’s treasures have moved to the Grand Egyptian Museum and the royal mummies to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
After the tour you will have some free time to explore the museum at your leisure.
